DISAGREEMENT
RESOLUTION
The
Parent Partnership Service works to prevent disagreements and
raises awareness of Good Practice by providing Working in Partnership
with Parents Training for schools and other services. The Service
adopts a neutral role in situations involving disagreements between
parents/carers, school, and/or LA. Service staff will negotiate
on parents/carers behalf with schools or the LA. Emphasis is placed
on keeping lines of communication open and resolving disagreements
before it becomes necessary to use formal procedures.
There
is no charge to parents for using this service.
If
it is not possible to informally resolve the disagreement we would
recommend the Mediation Works: SEN Mediation Service.

Special
Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST)
Parents
have a right of independant appeal to the special educational
needs and disability Tribunal. The Parent Partnership Service
encourages parents/carers to meet with the LA and school prior
to lodging an appeal to SENDIST. Service staff will maintain involvement
with parent/carer consent and continue to work towards resolving
the disagreement prior to the appeal hearing.
